What Is Different About Gates in West Houston
West Houston is HOA country. Bridgeland, Towne Lake, Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch, and Cane Island all have architectural review committees that must approve a gate design before it goes in, and most meet monthly. That review calendar, not fabrication, is usually the longest part of a west-side gate project. We prepare the full submission package — dimensioned drawings, site plan, material and finish specs — and time shop work so the gate is ready right as approval lands instead of sitting finished for three weeks.
Fort Bend and west Harris County sit on some of the most expansive clay in Texas. Post heave is the number one long-term failure mode out here: the footing shifts, the gate starts dragging, and the operator strains against it until the motor or gears give out. Homeowners then replace the operator, which fails again because nobody fixed the post. We set footings below the active moisture zone and sized to the actual gate weight, and on repair calls we check post alignment before we ever blame the operator.
Gate Brands Installed and Serviced
We install and service LiftMaster, Viking Access, Apollo Gate Operators, CellGate, and DoorKing. LiftMaster is the most common residential operator across the Houston metro and has the deepest parts availability, which matters when a gate is down. Viking handles high-cycle commercial work. CellGate is the cloud access platform most requested by homeowners who want to see and admit visitors from their phone. We also service Elite, All-O-Matic, and other brands we did not install — the $89 service call covers a full diagnostic on any system.
Questions People Ask About Gate Service in West Houston
Who installs driveway gates in Katy, Texas?
Texas Gates installs custom driveway gates throughout Katy including Cinco Ranch, Cross Creek Ranch, Cane Island, Firethorne, Seven Meadows, Grand Lakes, and Elyson. We fabricate the gate in our own shop, handle HOA architectural submissions, and install the complete system including posts, operator, electrical, and access control. Call (346) 872-8671.
Does Texas Gates serve Bridgeland and Towne Lake in Cypress?
Yes. Bridgeland and Towne Lake are two of our most active installation communities. Both have HOA design guidelines we prepare submissions for. Towne Lake waterfront properties get marine-grade hardware as standard because lake humidity accelerates corrosion on ordinary fasteners.
Do I need HOA approval for a gate in Cinco Ranch or Cross Creek Ranch?
In almost all cases yes. Cinco Ranch has multiple HOA sections with their own architectural guidelines, and Cross Creek Ranch reviews gate designs before installation. We prepare the drawings, site plan, and material specifications for submission, and we advise on the specific requirements for your address during the site visit.
How long does a gate project take in Katy or Cypress?
Without HOA approval, roughly two to three weeks from quote approval to a working gate. With HOA approval, typically five to eight weeks, and that difference is almost entirely the committee meeting calendar rather than our workload. Your driveway is only affected on two working days and is never fully blocked.
Why does my Katy gate drag on the driveway now when it did not before?
Almost certainly a heaved gate post. Fort Bend County clay expands when wet and contracts in drought, and that seasonal movement tilts the post. Because the gate leaf acts as a long lever, a small tilt at the post drops the far end enough to scrape. Replacing the operator without re-setting the post just buys you another failure, so the post is what has to be fixed.
Do you work with builders on new construction in west Houston?
Yes. We coordinate with custom home builders throughout Katy, Cypress, Fulshear, and Richmond to install gate systems as part of the build, working on the builder's schedule so the gate goes in at the right stage rather than after landscaping.
Does Texas Gates cover Fulshear and Weston Lakes?
Yes. Fulshear is one of the fastest-growing cities in Texas and one of our most active installation corridors. We serve Cross Creek Ranch, Weston Lakes, Fulbrook, and Polo Ranch. Weston Lakes has HOA architectural requirements, and Polo Ranch equestrian properties often need extra-wide gates for horse trailers, which we fabricate to any width.
Do you handle commercial gates in Rosenberg and Northwest Houston?
Yes. The US-290, FM 1960, and US-59 commercial corridors are regular commercial service areas for us. We install and service warehouse gates, storage facility systems with DoorKing telephone entry, car lot gates, and business park access control, using operators sized to actual daily cycle count rather than residential units that fail under commercial load.
My Copper Lakes or Stone Gate operator failed. Is it worth fixing?
Those Cypress communities were largely built in the mid-to-late 1990s, so their original operators are now 25 to 30 years old. At that age we check parts availability first, because a discontinued control board makes repair impractical regardless of how simple the fault is. We give you a straight recommendation either way rather than defaulting to replacement.
Do you serve Jersey Village and Copperfield?
Yes. Jersey Village, Copperfield, Willowbrook, and Bear Creek are all within our regular northwest Houston service area for both residential repair and commercial gate work.
